BONAPPETITLIFE’S 12 DAYS OF FODMAP
2 New Year’s Wellness Drinks (non-alcoholic)
I am a firm believer in the saying “you are what you eat.” Food is medicine in so many ways for so many people. This drink is the perfect non-alcoholic substitute for champagne. It is delightfully bubbly, has a hint of sweetness and a bit of a kick from the ginger. My tummy already feels better after drinking half a cup!
GINGER soothes digestion and inflammation.
LEMON boosts immunity, vitamin C, and body detoxification.
RASPBERRY supplies antioxidants and anti-inflammatory phytonutrients.
MINT, a natural stimulant, actually relieves seasonal allergies, promotes digestion, and eases nausea/headaches.
CAYENNE (optional) improves bodily circulation, fever, and nausea.
Two champagne glasses can be filled with:
- 1 c sparking water (I love San Pellegrino–it is very crisp)
- Juice of 1/2 lemon
- 1/4 tsp fresh ginger, finely grated
- 1/4 tsp fresh mint, finely grated
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar (use Stevia to avoid calories, but regular sugar tastes much more fresh)
- 2 raspberries, fresh or frozen
- and a dash of cayenne, optional if you like spicy!
Crush the ginger and mint in with the lemon juice. Stir well into the sparking water and add sugar. Taste test and add ingredients if you’d like. Drop a raspberry in the bottom of the glass, pour the drink over it, and top with fresh mint leaves.
Enjoy a healthy toast to the new year!
Cheers and happy holidays from our Happy Tummy Kitchen to yours!
